When I turned 10 years old, I finally got my own room. Having my own space away from my sisters gave me the chance to express myself through organization and posters. When I turned 21, I decided to move out and find a place in San Francisco. Little did I know, EVERYTHING in San Francisco is expensive, so I needed to find a roommate.
Decorating with my current roommate ending up being easier than I thought. We are two very similar girls living very similar lives, but at first, I was nervous to share decorating responsibilities with someone else.
What if she didn’t like my 2014 World Series Champions Giants poster? We both started looking at rooms on Pinterest to figure out what styles we shared and honestly, that was my favorite part. What person doesn’t love spending all day pinning lamps, tapestries and desks on a shared board?
We then took trips to Homegoods, Target, and Bed Bath and Beyond. For some reason, we only ended up with bath mats and a sign that says “Happy Hallowine.” If that doesn’t describe my relationship with my roommate, I don’t know what else would. Finding a roommate with similar interests and personality is key when it comes to decorating. Thankfully, I found the perfect roommate.
